Rocking Korea

This week I wanted to share with you an really scary experience turned miracle.

The story begins with Sister xxxx, one of our investigators. She had a bapismal date for January 26th.Ah
Oh,, Sorry i accidentally deleted it all. Well, to make a long story short, I will tell you we were working to do all we could to get her last lesson in before she was baptized, but she called and cancelled. She also said she loved coffee... And we hadn't taught the Word of Wisdom to her yet. She didn't know..

My copmanoin and I didn't know what to do, We wondered aout changing the date, if she'd be ready still, worried about her getting busy with school starting up again and other obstacles that would surely come if we waited. So that day, that morning, we decided to fast.
We fasted all day, and even though I was more grumpy, I felt the Spirit helping us in our appointments that day. We met up with xxxxxx, another investigator, that night and taught her the Word of Wisdom, only to find out she was alreay living it! We also talked about moving her baptizmal date up a week and she said "sure!" It was incredible. Then we got to see her amazing takgoo (pingpong) skills as we had a tournament. Loser bought Dukkbokki for the winner + friends :) She rocked out loud! xxxxxx beat our Korean-pingpong champ District leader, Elder Koo. Hahha! She rocked!! :D:D

So we were talking and walking back home together when we got a text from xxxxx. It said "Yeah, I can meet tomorrow."
And Sister Cho and I jumped up and down about a million times. WHOOO Hooo!!!! She could meet!
Not only that, but when we taught her the next day, (we'd been praying every prayer we had she'd accept it) she said she would tryher best to live the Word of Wisdom. We were able to have our recent convert, SIster xxx help and bear her testimony about living the Word of Wisdom, though she'd only been a member for 2 weeks.

So she has a baptizmal date for this Saturday (she had health issues last week) and we're praying still!

I had my testimony of fasting again strentghtned. This isn't our work. It's HIs! And when we ask HIm and have faith He will answer, you can bet He will!

I love you all! I hope you are well! You are so loved!!

All our love from Cheonan!

Like a Stone Rolling Forth

Happy New Year again!!! Most of our spiritual thoughts this week have been inviting our members to share their goals or "wishes/hopes" for the New Year-It's awesome to hear how each person wants to develop and grow this year. My new year goal is to love every person I meet, and to help them feel Heavenly Father's love. And I LOVE Elder Brooksby's to be a good example. He is already!! FIGHTING ELDER BROOKSBY!

This past week we had 3 investigators come to church (this is so weird...) and we have 3 baptismal dates. They are pretty solid too! One of them is for this next week-January 13th. Her mom is in town from California only until the 19th, so we're doing both her baptism and confirmation on Sunday. (The service is at 9am, which is pretty early here :D) And even as I'm typing this, I'm thinking "What?? Really???"

Sister Terry and I are blown away! Right now we have 9 investigators. And we have a potential we're meeting this week who's a member referral we met at the Ward Christmas Party. She's a really fun lady I met-and she laughed at me a lot even though I couldn't communicate super well. Maybe that's why...hahah I'm adorable in my unknowingness :D She's met with the missionaries before and she has English interest too. A mom and a fun lady! Can't wait to meet up with her-I will keep you updated :)

So this week we went to visit a Part-Active mom and her three daughters who live in our branch. They live far enough away that we need to take a subway to get there. It was the first time I'd met them. She was working in the store next to their home, so we visited there. She was watching the food channel :) We had a good time getting to know her and we talked a lot about missions. Then it came time for us to leave, and Sister Terry asked me if I had a thought I could share. I didn't but I thought of two on the spot. The first was about missionary work and the comfort Heavenly Father gave Nephi (Hel 10:3-5) but that one didn't feel right. The second was Alma 26:27. Ammon and his brothers had no success, they were laughed at by their people because they wanted to share the Gospel, then when they got there, they were beat, scorned, thrown in prisons, and on top of that, no one wanted to listen to them. Their precious message fell only on angry and unbelieving ears.

"Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about toaturn back, behold, the Lord bcomforted us, and said: Go amongst thy brethren, the Lamanites, and bear with cpatience thinedafflictions, and I will give unto you success."

And in the next verse it tells us how they didn't rely on themselves, but on the mercies of God.

I didn't know that Sister Yoon, the woman with a Less active husband, worked until 2 or 3 am, went home to sleep, then came back and worked again at 6am. She'd told us how just that day their water stopped working because their pipes froze. So she was wearing a hoodie because she nor her girls or husband were able to shower. But as I shared that scripture, I testified from my own expeirence that, in our saddest, most discouraging or frustrating moments, Heavenly Father will be there.

And I've realized now, more and more, that when I do have discouraging thoughts, only when I turn to Him that I feel peace again.

I love you all. I want you to know that it's true! He will be there in our darkest moments because Christ has been there too.
I hope you are all doing well! Miracles are happening because of your prayers of faith. Thank you. I know this is not our work-it's His.

With snow and love from Cheonan, :D

New Year - Miracles

Hey Everyone!!

Guess what?? It's going to be a brand new year tomorrow!
Side note: Mom, recepie for you for one of the Korean side dishes called "panja". It's a black bean panja. really yummy. It's got soy sauce, som sugar, sesame seed oil and sesame seeds. Plus black beans. It tases really good with rice and kimchee pancakes :):):) Sierra, try your hand at it and tell me how you like it!
I have just 7 minutes to write-we spent the day mostly travelling but then got to play at Daecheon beach. Whoo hoo! Snow and sand! And district relay races and who-can-bounce-on-one-fooot-and-not-get-knocked-over-the-longest game !!! Do you remember? Hahah ss501 all the way! :):D
Tyson! I got your letter fromxxxxx your friend from Portugal and I wrote him back today. He seems like a solid guy. Hahah I got your letter from August...woah. I think he tried to send it but it came back after a month so he had to re send it. Got it the day after Christmas. Do you two still keep in touch?

So this week I'll tell you of two of the many miracles we've seen. Cheonan is exploding with miracles! The work...wow!!
So the first is xxxxxx Jamaenim. She's 17. WE'd met her with her two friends street jundoing. We got two of their phone numbers and gave them pamplets with ours on them. We hardly ever get calls back from pamplets. But that very night she texted us and said she was very glad to meet us. We texted back and forth just "BRT" or "building the relationship". Suddently, last Saturday night, she texted us and asked what time our church started. Sister Terry and I didn't respond. We just looked at each other. Was this girl real? We told her the time, and we said we could meet her at the bus stop 20 minutes before sacrament meeting. She said "Great!!". And then....She came!!
She sat with Sister Terry while I sat with another investigator and her mom (who sokead her or referred her :):):) and our 3rd investigator sat with our members. It was a miracle-we had Three Investigators at chruch!! THen later we texted xxxxx and asked with we could meet her and talk to her and her older sister about our church. She texted bakc "OF course!". Apparently, she and her sister have been looking for religeon. We didn't even talk about English! ! ! ! WOah!

Any how, I need to spring, but we are seeing miracles just like that! I'll keep you updated. We're so lucky! We're so blessed!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love you all! Happyt New Year! And tell me what your goals are for the next year :)
With love from Cheonan,
Sister Brooksby
